Kara, a native of Bridgeport, WV, received early training from Annabelle Timms School of Dance and Momentum Dance Center. At age 13 she was an apprentice of the Kitchen Sink Dance Company under the Direction of Michael McGowan, and a full-time company member the following year. She has attended and been admitted to many programs, including the Cedar Lakes Dance Camp and Governor’s School for the Arts. Recently Miss Lawson has returned from Italy where she attended Pro Danza Italia/USA, an intensive summer dance workshop on the Tuscan Coast. Kara is a member of WVU’s Orchesis Dance Ensemble and is currently setting choreography within the organization. This is her sixth year as a company member of Alchemy Dance Project. Kara is the Assistant artistic director of Red Stone Dance Initiative and is serving as interim artistic director for Alchemy.
